What we pass down to our children is their inheritance.  For the Christian, the most valuable thing you have is your faith.  The treasure of passing down your faith to the next generation is often predicated on following some very clear and basic principals that require intentional integration with the many various facets of your life. 

Observations & Conclusions:

1. Ownership

• WHAT? – Don’t forget my teachings
• HOW?  – Keep them in your heart
• WHY?  – You will receive long life & prosperity

2. Access 

• WHAT? – Let love & faithfulness never leave you
• HOW?  – Bind them around your neck & write them on your heart
• WHY?  – Win favor + good name in eyes of God & man

3. Use 

• WHAT? – Trust in the LORD
• HOW?  – With all your heart / lean not on your own understanding / acknowledge Him in all your ways
• WHY?  – He will make your paths straight

Application: 

• 1. Integrate your faith
• 2. Focus on your heart – focus on your child’s heart

Hebrews 10:16

Ephesians 6:1-3

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
