Stewardship – The Anatomy of Time

Stewardship – The Anatomy of Time

When we attempt to understand God’s design for the time given to us, we must begin by looking at His nature.  Because when we understand who God is, we will also see who we are. Stewarding time will require and awareness of God’s judgement over our sin leading to consequences for our life.

The Anatomy of Stewarding Time

  • Proposition = Redeem
  • Complement = Maturity
  • Antithesis = Vanity

Observations & Conclusions:

  1. Our stewardship of time must begin with the nature of God
  2. The wrath of God over our time is death
  3. The source of our loss of time is sin

Application:
– How often is God the focus of your utilization of your time?
– What current allocations of time in your life lack an awareness of your mortality?

  1. Put God First
  2. Release your circumstances to Jesus’ rule
  3. Grow up by knowing God
  4. Make certain that God has removed His wrath over your sin through His Son Jesus, and know that you are now receiving His delight

Ephesians 5:15-17

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise; make the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”

Colossians 4:5

“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.”

James 1:2-5

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

Genesis 3:19

“By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”

Psalm 103:15-16

“The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.”

Ecclesiastes 12:1-7

“Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”— before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain; when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows grow dim; when the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades; when people rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint; when people are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets; when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags itself along and desire no longer is stirred. Then people go to their eternal home and mourners go about the streets. Remember him—before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well, and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”

Proverbs 9:10-11

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.”

Romans 5:12-14

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned— To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.”

2 Timothy 2:11-13

“If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.”

Mark 8:35

“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.”

Romans 10:9

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
