The magic of Christmas is regularly celebrated with family and friends and all the reminders of God’s love shown to us in the giving of his Son. However, the real wonder of God’s gift is only ever truly appreciated when we’re reminded that God sent His Son while we were still in darkness still in rebellion and basically not even looking for God’s Messiah. The greatest wonder is that He still offers us Jesus today.
Observations:
At Christmas we are reminded that
- Jesus came for all mankind
- Jesus comes in humility
- Jesus comes without expectation
But we are separated from God by
- Darkness
- Pride
- and by expectation
Conclusions:
- Jesus is God in flesh
- When we receive Jesus on His terms, and put our trust in His name, we become part of God’s family
Application:
- Jesus comes to you at Christmas. Let His life shine in you!
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Colossians 1:16
“For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.”
Philippians 2:6-7
“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.”
1 John 4:9-10
“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
