Show and Tell – Make Disciples

Show and Tell – Make Disciples

The resurrected Jesus calls his disciples to a mountain in Galilee to give them his final command. Jesus’ last words to his disciples give us the direction that God expects from us as the next generation of disciples.

Observations & Conclusions:

  1. To bring the gospel message, you must be sent.
  2. “The Gospel message starts as a message about the kingdom and ends as a message about the king.”
  3. Make disciples, not just give the message
  4. Mission responsibility belongs to the whole church
  5. Focus is on the Father’s great joy

Application:
A Great Commission Church builds a culture of:

  • Teaching or Discipling
  • Psalm 119:11 – Evangelism
  • Isaiah 49:6  – Missions
  • Acts 15:40-41 – Strengthening other churches
  • John 13:35 – Encouraging gospel growth locally.

Matt 28:19-20

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Isaiah 52:7

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!””

Acts 1:8

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
