The Mission of God flows in perfect harmony with His design.  And in the beginning God designed the human creatures to be his representatives on earth: to display His glory and rule across the entire globe. 

God will still accomplish this mission, and in His wisdom He has mercifully allowed for redeemed sinners to further His Kingdom upon the earth; redeemed by the blood of Jesus and controlled by the indwelling Spirit of God. 

Observations & Conclusions:

To be made in God’s Image describes the function of mankind
as created to reveal God in His creation

   All humans are addressable by God
2. Godly Rulership
   All humans are assessable by God
3. Grand Relationship
   All humans are accountable to God
4. Graceful Reverence
   All humans are accessible by God

Application: 

Because you are made in God’s Image, AND redeemed by the blood of Jesus
you can reveal AND reflect 

1. The character of God in creation – Representation 
2. The kingship of God in creation – Rulership
3. The harmony of God in creation – Relationship
4. The glory of God in creation – Reverence

Genesis 1:26-31

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. John 8:41-45

You are doing the works of your own father.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.” Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me!”
