Sent to Save

The nature of Jesus’ commission from the Father will help us in our understanding for how Jesus’ disciples are also sent.  We will see that at the foundation, Jesus is sent to display what the Kingdom and rule of God looks like on the earth. 

Observations & Conclusions: How was Jesus sent to reveal the Kingdom of God?

  1. Love – Jesus was sent to show the love of God
    – “For God so loved the world…”
  2. Life – Jesus was sent to deliver life by the gospel
    – “…but have eternal life”
  3. Lost – Jesus was sent to seek and save the lost
    – “…but to save the world through him”
  4. Liberty – Jesus was sent to proclaim spiritual freedom
    – “…but whoever does not believe stands condemned already”
  5. Light – Jesus was sent to reveal the Father
    – “…but men loved darkness”
  6. Lead – Jesus was sent to testify to the truth
    – “…but whoever lives by the truth comes into the light”

Matthew 4:17

“From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Mark 1:14-15

“After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

1 John 4:9-10

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

Romans 5:8
