Sending & the Holy Spirit

Sending & the Holy Spirit

The sending of disciples on mission was determined by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. If we too are to be sent, we also must learn to be led by the Spirit.

Conclusions:

  1. The Holy Spirit is the third member of the TRINITY. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is GOD
  2. The Holy Spirit is GOD’S GIFT to us
  3. The Holy Spirit works directly within us to REORIENT our hearts toward God
  4. We receive the Holy Spirit through FAITH

Applications:

  1. CONSULT the Holy Spirit’s wisdom
  2. TRUST the Holy Spirit’s leading
  3. SUBMIT to the Holy Spirit’s direction

Acts 5:1-4

“Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet. Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”

Ezekiel 11:19

“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.”

Acts 1:4-5

“On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

Ephesians 1:13-14

“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.”
