The letter to the Ephesians is a Masterclass on Christianity. The Apostle Paul lays out the foundational details for the Christian’s calling and purpose on this earth as sourced in God’s redeeming work through Jesus Christ. It is now with an allegiance to Jesus as our exalted Head that the Christian can embrace their God defined purpose according to His will.
Observations:
If you are a Christian, then Jesus alone is your head
Conclusions:
- To be a Christian means you follow Jesus
- To be a Christian means God determines your purpose
- To be a Christian means you seek God’s will
- To be a Christian means you must led by the Spirit
- To be a Christian means you exist for God’s glory
Application:
- Believe the word of truth; the gospel
- Position your life under His Headship
– God has designed me to glorify Him…
– Do you know God’s will for your life today?
– How are you listening and learning from the Holy Spirit?
Luke 6:46
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
John 10:27
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
John 21:20-22
“Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”) When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”
Romans 12:2
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
1 Corinthians 2:10-16
“The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.”
Isaiah 43:6c-7
“Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth— everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
