When Paul communicates to the church in Ephesus he implores them to recognize the evil days in which they’re living, and to therefore “redeem the time.”
The command to believers to answer, witness, and evangelize is predicated on the reality of our identity in Christ. Because we’ve been changed from darkness to light, we can live our lives a beacons of God’s love.
Observations & Conclusions:
#1 – Live in the light
#2 – Judge yourself, not others
#3 – Send the light
#4 – Walk in wisdom
#5 – Act with urgency
Wisdom + Urgency = Strategy
Application:
What are YOU going to do?
1 Peter 2:11-12
11 Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. 12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
Philippians 2:14-16
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.
Matthew 5:13-16
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Colossians 4:5
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
