The dual nature of the person of Jesus is critical in our salvation and discipleship. To be established in a full understanding of who our Savior is, will lead us into the discipleship resource of worship, that we might train our hearts according to the balanced truth.
Observations:
- Homoousious – Jesus is of the same substance as the Father
- Hypostasis – Jesus’ two natures, human and divine, stand together in one person
Conclusions:
- Jesus is the God-man
Why does it matter?
- Salvation – An unbalanced Jesus is the wrong Jesus
- Brotherhood – An unbalanced Jesus is an estranged Jesus
- Credit – An unbalanced Jesus removes glory from Jesus
- Substitution – An unbalanced Jesus cannot destroy death
- Meditation – An unbalanced Jesus cannot intercede
- Exaltation – An unbalanced Jesus is not King of all creation
- Love – An unbalanced Jesus cannot communicate the Love of God
Application:
- Worship – Fall at his feet and call Him Lord and God
Chalcedonian Creed

Hebrews 4:15
