The warnings given for sin are clear from the scriptures. However, we too often consider these consequences as applying to someone else as we compare ourselves with people who we know are worse than us. The reality is, all of us are guilty of sin and deserve the consequences of those sins.
Observations & Conclusions:

- Idolatry – A king who trusts in idols, only trusts in himself

Matthew 7:24-27
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Proverbs 1:17-19
“How useless to spread a net where every bird can see it! These men lie in wait for their own blood; they ambush only themselves! Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the life of those who get it.”
Psalm 20:7
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”
Matthew 26:52
“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.”
