The task of parenting is a God-given responsibility, and it is an incredible privilege to be used by God for the formation of a soul. However, moms and dads are completely incapable of accomplishing this task on their own.
God has given parents two extremely important resources, His Word and His church. We find in the community of believers a wealth of experience, love and care to help develop and shape the faith of our children, and we find within His Word the wisdom of God that is needed to bring our children through the challenges of this world and to a successful God honoring life.
Observations:
The Responsibly of the Parent
- You are called to it
- You cannot do it
- Wisdom will protect and save
- Wisdom comes from the Lord
Matthew 6:31-34
“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Conclusions:
How do you instill wisdom to your children?
- Frame their dependency upon God
- Seek dependency on God
- Model dependency on God
- Walk in dependency on God
