With our summer plans augmented because of the closing of Lake Ellen Bible Camp, our church family has decided to send our campers (with their parents) to Kentucky to see the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. But a 12 hour bus ride with 30 kids is no easy task – at least you wouldn’t think it would be.
We had the most amazing time with our youth on all three days of this trip! Not only were the bus rides filled with fun: including crafts, movies, time with friends, and plenty of pit stops, but we were also blessed to have Nick and CoryAnn Hulce along with their kids join us for the tour. Nick is a ninja-master at corralling young people and engaging them with lessons from God’s Word using games, object lessons, and illustrations that make understanding the core of the gospel easy for everyone. We were so thankful for his enthusiasm and care for our Grace kids with a morning devotional each day and loving oversight at just the right moments on the trip.
As I watched families walking through the exhibits together and seeing parents and grandparents pointing out the wonders of God’s creation, I couldn’t help but thank God for this experience of an eternal investment in our children’s lives. Along with the wonder of God’s power and glory, we had lots of fun in the zoo and playground parts of the parks too.
Special thanks to Nick and CoryAnn for all their leadership. A great big thank you to all the parents and extra eyes and ears with our chaperones and guardians on this trip. And finally, thanks to Nicole Kuzak for all her time in vision and preparation for making this trip a reality.
