Our back to school event usually follows our summer Vacation Bible School program, however we (like the rest of the world) have had to make some adjustments.
So instead of a weeklong bible camp culminating in back-to-school supplies, we decided to do an outdoor 2-hour Carnaval where the kids would WIN their school supplies!
Whereas this sounded like a good idea in theory – we quickly found out that you need to be very organized if you have more than 15 kids – and we quickly had more than 15 kids! We had to print more tickets than our original 30 and even after that we had kids who didn’t have any tickets winning prizes and overwhelming our volunteers… but it was the best kind of overwhelming!
