Jesus prayed that his disciples would be one, even as He and the Father are one (John 17:11). In an effort to obey His call, Grace partnered with two other local congregations from Maranatha of Kingsford and Cornerstone in Iron Mountain to host an outdoor “Unity Service” right in the middle of the downtown shopping district.
Even though some random rain clouds threatened the event, we had an excellent turnout and the 1 hour service was more than just 3 congregations worshipping together, it became a picture of God’s people united under the banner that “Jesus is Lord.”
The resounding conclusion from all the worshippers was “we need to do this again!” Thanks and praise to our God for a beautiful picture of unity and deference to one another. When churches today are all too often dividing, we’re grateful for the unity of God’s Spirit and likemindedness of His people to consider others as better than ourselves and be willing to lay down our agendas and causes to take up the banner of our God’s glory through the redemptive work of His Son, Jesus.
…stay tuned for more to come as we keep looking for more ways to encourage God’s people to partner and participate in worship.
