Today we held our annual Ministry Leadership Team Meeting. As we have moved through the year of 2018 serving our Lord, it has been exciting to see how God continues to mold and shape our ministries. The diversity of the body of Christ is clearly evident in the multiplicity of spheres where our church is serving each other and the community.
We’ve had some exciting new ministries start this past year and we’ve got some new ones on the horizon here for 2019. The purpose of our meeting this year is to work towards a “Ministry Fair” on the last Sunday of the month where each of our leaders will address the entire congregation outlining (1) the scope and commitment that their ministry entails (2) why they are passionate about serving God is this way (3) how others can also get involved in serving too.
Of the primary themes we covered, perhaps most crucial is to remember that as leaders our individual “ministries” are not actually our ministries. Firstly, they are truly not ours because we are simply seeking to be woven into the work that God is already doing. And secondly, they are not our ministry, because as leaders it is the people serving in our ministry who are of first importance. This includes the simple but often overlooked priorities of good communication, cooperation, and character development.
By God’s grace we’re excited about the Ministry Fair on the 26th and all that God is going to continue to work out in our service through 2019!
