Through the Lord’s leading and blessing to a few of our members we hosted our first ever “Back-to-School Prayer Night and Sundae Bar.” The idea was to try and be a blessing to the families in our church and community, and secondly to show a solidarity between our congregation and the local school over at North Dickinson. The sad reality is our world has too much evil in the schools we want to stand together with those seeking God’s glory in the lives of our students for a change for the better.
The service was short, with prayer led by three of our children, praying for (1) students, (2) teachers, and (3) parents. Pastor Ryan gave a short mediation from Luke 12 reminding the students to “watch their step,” “fear God only,” and “live courageously as a Christian.” Without eclipsing the message, however, the service was immediately followed with an ice cream sundae bar with all the trimmings, and concluded with a Grand Prize give-a-way where, because of the generous donations of local businesses, each child was able to go home with a prize! Along with their loot, each child received the required school supplies including: paper, folders, pencils, markers, notebooks, crayons, hand sanitizer, erasers, scissors, and much more.
Special thanks to all the volunteers and parents who helped make the 1st ever Back-to-School Prayer Night a huge success!
